Regulations originally proposed by Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy (DMME) to permit hydraulic fracking have been approved by the McAuliffe Administration, and will go into effect on December 28, 2016.

The regulations published in the November 28 Virginia Register were first proposed by DMME in October, 2014.
