An Exhilarating Day of Education at the Supervisors’ Forum

Chesterfield County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey provides advice from his decades of experience as part of the Budget Workshop.

Saturday… in the park.

Saturdays are usually meant as a day of leisure and perhaps spent at the park watching people dancing, people laughing, or a man selling ice cream.

But on Saturday, May 18, a large group of county leaders, in-person and virtual, spent the day at VACo Headquarters – learning and improving their supervisors skills to better serve their constituents.

During the morning session of the Supervisors’ Forum, county elected officials engaged in discussions about the Role of the Supervisor, about Budgeting and Finance, and about Working with Constitutional Officers.

The afternoon session offered opportunities to learn about Planning and Land Use, K-12 Education, Top Legislative Issues for Supervisors, and Generative Artificial Intelligence.

Forum attendees spoke and shared their challenges and successes in each session, and those exchanges gave the Forum a richness that sweetened the experience for all involved.

Thank you to all the speakers and attendees for spending your Saturday at the Supervisors’ Forum. It was truly as fun as a walk in the park.
