HB 129 (Cornett) would allow an owner or lessee of land who sees a deer in the act of causing damage to fruit trees, crops, livestock, plants or personal property to kill the deer responsible without authorization from the Department of Wildlife Resources. The owner of lessee of the land must immediately report the killing of the deer to the Director of the Department of Wildlife Resources or their designee and comply with all local ordinances, including those regulating the discharge of firearms.
