Local officials complete Virginia Certified County Supervisor Program

VACo Names Hart President

Nov. 12, 2008

The membership of the Virginia Association of Counties elected Accomack County Supervisor Donald L. Hart, Jr., as 2008-2009 president during VACo’s 74th Annual Conference in Bath County. Hart and other newly elected officers started their terms at the association’s Annual Business Meeting on Nov. 11.

IT’S NOT ABOUT THE BIENNIUM. IT’S ABOUT THE FUTURE, HOUSE CUTS K-12 FUNDING

March 4, 2008

VACo was part of an eight-organization coalition that held a press conference today, supporting full funding of Virginia’s Standards of Quality and speaking out against provisions in the 2009-2010 House budget. The provisions would cause localities to raise taxes in future years, the coalition announced. John E. Gordon, Jr., vice chairman of Hanover County, represented VACo at the press conference.
