VACo petitions for additional Economic Stabilization Act

In other news, the VACo Board of Directors adopted a resolution addressed to President George Bush, President-elect Barack Obama and the Virginia members of the U.S. Congress. The resolution requests that an addition stimulus package be enacted and that it includes a significant component of direct assistance to localities to guarantee and protect existing investments, to address documented and unmet infrastructure
needs, to create new jobs and to meet mandated entitlements and programs.

Accomack County's Donald L. Hart  elected
VACo President


The membership of the Virginia Association of Counties chose Donald L. Hart as its next president. Hart succeeds William B. Kyger, Jr., of Rockingham County.

"I am truly humbled and honored that you have elected me president," Hart said. "I will bring a part of Accomack County to all the counties I visit. But I want you to know, I will also carry a part of your county back with me."

Watch Hart address the VACo membership for the first time as president.
