VIRGINIA BASIC CODE

A low-cost code of ordinances for Virginia counties published by
American Legal Publishing and the Virginia Association of Counties

The Virginia Basic Code is a complete model code of ordinances designed specifically for counties in Virginia. By utilizing the concept of shared cost to provide an economic alternative for codification, it allows Virginia counties to enjoy the benefits of codification without the substantial expense of a customized code.

Sample Provisions
The Virginia Basic Code contains provisions on subjects typically encountered by counties, including:

Administration
Traffic Regulations
Streets and Sidewalks
Nuisances
General Offenses
Business Regulations
Peddler and Solicitor Regulations
Taxation
Animal Regulations
Fire Prevention
And much more

Based on State Law
Most sections are based directly on Virginia law or on model ordinances drafted by American Legal Publishing and reviewed by the Virginia Association of Counties. In addition, the Virginia Basic Code is updated annually to incorporate state law enactments, deletions and amendments, keeping your county current with changes in Virginia law.

Features and Pricing
By subscribing to and adopting the Virginia Basic Code for a cost of $995, your county can have all of your important ordinances at your fingertips in one easy-to-use loose-leaf book. The Virginia Basic Code has a comprehensive index. It also contains a separate code title reserved for incorporating unique local ordinances specific to your county or not covered by the Basic Code. The Virginia Basic Code is updated annually for a cost of approximately $400.
